I've been introducing a friend to XF, and in the rewatch I finally noticed how nearly every episode, at least those set in a rural community, had the good-intentioned but ultimately doomed sheriff/deputy/trooper. Those who weren't vampires or killers themselves, of course. Why didn't I noticed this when watching in real time?

You were seeing everything for the first time and there was a lot to take in. I didn't notice it either. My husband pointed it out when we were writing this. It does seem really obvious in retrospect.

Doing a re-watch while introducing a friend to the series is the best kind of re-watch..
